I leave today after lunch, so here is a meaningful picture. It's the pencil sketch I drew in preparation for making a new website design; probably this one. Yes, this website had been brewing for at least a year before I put it up. And you didn't see Elfinessé 1 or Zela's Page, both of which have been around for a couple of years, and both of which are junk. Comparatively.

She looks nice in this picture.

So this sketch is for my avatar, as you can see to the side. I had trouble with the positioning of the hand, and also I forgot to draw in the hair before I scanned it. So I free-handed the hair in Photoshop when I coloured it (more on that later, when I put up the colour version) with a mouse. And I still didn't know how to do ears, which is another setback. Maybe I should recolour it!

And here I am at seven in the morning (which is not some unholy hour if I can only make myself get up at it) and my other task is to transcribe my quartet. I actually got it almost done last night. I was sidetracked cleaning my room - I mean, clearing my room. And Kevin's going to steal my giant rabbit. If I get it back in pieces after I come back, I will be mad. All of my stuff actually fits onto one shelf in the living room!

And the dratted scanner won't behave.

Hey, I found an impossible page. Try 227 of the Histories of Middle Earth Bk 9 (which was the book that I actually got to - I don't own 10... yet). Tolkien's characters, unknown to any but who have read that exact book, are sitting around arguing about... life? consciousness? Anyway, someone comes out with a paragraph-long sentance that I find extremely difficult to make out. Yay. It was pretty cool, another take on "The Lost Road". But I think I liked TLR better because Lowdham is a bit of a joker. A nut. Not the sort of Elendil-type Alboin is. Or was it Alwin in this case? I think it was Alwin. No time to look it up.

I'll still have e-mail access in Calgary or wherever it is that I'm going, so feel free to e-mail me (not that anyone does - shy?), but there will be no new pictures until I come back - about the 1st.

Have a nice 10 days!
