January 2006 Meeting Minutes
Claresholm Chamber of Commerce Minutes – January 10, 2006
In Attendance: Roxanne Thompson, Don Leonard, Wilf Kenyon, Peggy White, Rob Vogt, Glenda Kenyon, Mark Barber, Barb Kemery, Dale McLachlan, Kathy Bantle, Sherril Marshall, Bev Larabie, Doug MacPherson, Judy Lucas, and Wayne Lucas.
-a good year financially.
-Have the Web page up and running. It is off to a great start with continual
updating. It is a good opportunity for all businesses to get their name out.
-Centennial year. Flags and flower pots were well sponsored and added greatly to the look of the town.
-Business awards. Citizen of the year was started again and awards presented. The evening was well attended and a great event for the community.
-EDC. Chamber is represented on the EDC by Don and Roxanne. The EDC moved forward this year with funding from the town. A trade show booth display is being purchased for the town to be show cased at events around the country. A part time EDC coordinator will be hired in the New Year to work on community coordination and promotion.
-Coin Sets. 2005 town coins were produced. Gift sets are available. More need to be sold to break even.
-Chili cook-off. This is a Prairie Winds Clubhouse event that the chamber, represented by Don & Wilf, participated in. A great promotion for the clubhouse and won by the chamber team.
-Hiway bypass. On going and important that all chamber members participate in the process. The chamber has been in touch with Minister Oberg and it looks like the community will be heard. There will be the second meeting to discuss options in February.
b) Elections for 2006 Executive.
- a list of nominees was presented by the nominating committee
- there was a call for any further nominations. None put forward.
- Wayne moved that we accept the new executive as presented. Seconded by Don. Carried.

o Past President – Roxanne Thompson
o Secretary – Kathy Bantle
o Treasurer – Peggy White
6. Project Updates:
a) Trade Fair – February 3rd & 4th
- 44 paid booths to date out of 67 available. Well ahead of last year at this time.
- Subway will be running the concession
- Show features and entertainment:
o Antique appraisals Saturday 11:00 – 3:00. Contact Don to book items in. Limit 2 items/person. $10/item.
o Children’s area.
o Friday evening entertainment
o Exhibitor’s lounge and after show social.
o Door prize – trip to Las Vegas or a cruise.
- volunteers are needed so anyone who can spare some time those days please get in touch with Don or Roxanne.
