Slip resistance is based on friction. To calculate how slip resistant a device is, it is necessary to find it's coefficient of friction, which is defined as the constant ratio of the retarding force of friction between two surfaces to the mutual pressure between them. For reference, concrete has a COF of .8. Most surfaces with a COF of .6 or better are not considered slippery.
