Ascent of Agassiz Mountain from the west. The highway wil climb up to the side of the mountain affording passengers an excellent view of the Chilliwack area of the Fraser Valley, before descending towards Agassiz. Keep to the right unless passing slow vehicles.

 
Continuation of the ascent along Agassiz Mountain.
The highway has a few curves. Watch your speed.
On the right is an outlet for a natural spring. There's fittings so that people are able to fill water jugs. It is a popular spot for locals and visitors.

Watch for vehicles before attempting to park on the highway on the left.
 
 

On the east side of Agassiz Mountain, the highway descends rapidly to the valley floodplain again.

Watch your descent, use your brakes by pumping them to control your speed or shift to a lower gear.

Farming areas in the western part of Agassiz. The area is known as the Corn Capital of Canada, owing to the large volume of corn farms, such as the one on the right.

Highway 7 continues towards the town of Agassiz.

 

 
 

Agassiz.

Agassiz is a small town that serves the local region on
the north side of the Fraser River. It has full services
and has various supply outlets to service the local
farming community. Agassiz has been in existence
since the late 1800's.

 




On the right is one of the quint churches in Agassiz.
 

Highway 7 will turn left ahead to continue to Hope.
Highway 9 turns right ahead to cross the CPR tracks into downtown Agassiz and continues to Rosedale and Highway 1.

 

Click on this sign to continue on Highway 9 South to
Chilliwack.

Watch for oncoming traffic before making the left turn.
 
 

Highway 7 begins its travel along this bypass which eliminated the need for a second railway crossing.
