Women’s Centres to meet with Women’s Equality Minister

VANCOUVER – The BC Coalition of Women’s Centres will meet in Vancouver with Lynn Stephens, the Minister of State for Women’s Equality, this Friday, June 20.

The Coalition and Minister Stephens will discuss the government’s obligation to prevent the closure of the province’s Women’s Centres.

At the meeting, the Coalition will present a new research paper to the Minister that examines the options open to Women’s Centres for sustainable funding.

The Coalition will hold a press conference at 2:15 pm outside the BC Cabinet Office following the meeting.  A summary of the report, The Herstory, Risk and Survival of BC Women’s Centres, will be made available to the media.

The BC Coalition of Women’s Centres represents 33 Women’s Centres in BC.
