"Kim is not your typical fitness instructor. She watches you to make sure you are doing it right and cares about what YOU get out of it! I joined so that I could do some toning while training for my half marathon and it really helped me! My son, Branse, and I enjoyed the socializing, activities and being with other moms in a truly baby friendly fitness environment. Kim will even pick up and walk with your child if they are being fussy, so don't worry about neglecting your baby. Give yourself that push and check these classes out. "Having recently heard about some terrific "bootcamp" classes, I was delighted to find that Kim was offering a special class for moms. This is ideal for new moms as it means we get a serious workout twice a week and don't have to worry about childcare. Kim plans the activities/stations ahead of time and changes things up from week to week to ensure we are getting a full body workout and exercising different muscles every class. This is also enjoyable for my 6-month-old as she is kept entertained watching the moms exercise and staring at the other babies. While the moms' workout is the main focus in this class, Kim is also very accommodating to the little ones by tending to them when necessary and making an effort to include them in some of the activities. |
"Liam and I have been attending Kim's class for almost 12 weeks. I enjoy the thought and expertise that Kim puts into each class, making sure to target specific areas. Kim also gives a few variations of most exercises for moms of different levels. I like the variety of each class, and the adaptations Kim gives to use your baby during the exercise in case he/she is fussy. Although I have not lost a lot of weight, I am more toned, and I can actually feel my abdominal muscles when I try to contract them, which is a big improvement for me." Caroline & Liam |
Kim's "Mommy Boot Camp" class has been great! It is so convenient for me and baby to come to this class. I can enjoy a stress-free workout and bring my baby along. I like the fact that the babies are incorporated into some of the exercises. For me, Mommy Boot Camp classes have been a great way to get active again after my son was born. What I like best about them is that I don't have to worry about childcare, and can even safely incorporate my son into my fitness regime. Kim makes the classes comfortable for the babies and makes each class interesting and increasingly more challenging for moms. The hour just flies by! ~Isha |

I started Mommy Boot Camp when my daughter, Hunter, was 9 months old in July and have continued to go to class now that she is almost 17 months old. She has gone from just crawling to running after me in class! Having the class outdoors in the summer was a wonderful alternative to being inside all day and the babies loved to watch us from their strollers or to crawl around in the grass. Kim is always changing the workouts which keeps it interesting and we always know what to expect with the circuit-style training. |
I initially went to the first class as another way to get out of the house and to meet other mommies and I have continued to come for 8 months because I am getting a great workout and my daughter really enjoys interacting with the moms and babies. I think it is a great environment in which the babies can play as well as see that exercise can be fun! The other day as I was doing exercises at home, Hunter started doing squats and pushups with me! What a great way to bond! That is something I think is so important and am excited that Hunter's first introduction to exercise will be so positive. I love that we can involve the babies in some of our exercises too. I think it makes them happy that they don't have to be away from us for the whole hour and it helps the moms know that we can tend to our babies without disrupting the whole class. Kim is super at involving the babies when they seem to be discontent or at just picking up a fussy baby when Mom is busy at her station. It is so nice to be able to get some real exercise and not have to pay for child care or worry that your baby is not safe. My whole body has gotten a lot stronger and I have more definition in my arms and legs. I'm still working on getting legs like Kim's though!! ~Natasha & Hunter |
This class has encouraged me to get a bit more active in my daily life and has also allowed me to meet a number of other moms who I enjoy spending time with. The mommy boot camp class is perfect for the person who is looking to get back into shape. I joined so many other mom and baby classes, and found that I got little benefit out of it in terms of my physical shape. The other classes are targeted towards the babies. Kim's mommy boot camp is a challenge for all mothers, and you will definitely see and feel results! Kim changes the workout every class so you get a good mix of strength and cardio work. Not only have I lost all of my pregnancy weight, I have lost more than what I weighed pre-pregnancy! The class is also so baby friendly. The babies are able to sit on the side and watch, and once they can crawl or walk, they are able to roam around. If they get fussy, Kim is always there trying to calm them or picking them up so that you are able to get the most out of the class. Kim also incorporates the babies in some of the workouts, and they make great weights, because as they grow - your strength grows too! |
I first joined the class when Anna was 5 months old. I plan on continuing with the class until I go back to work, as I am getting so much out of the class. It has been so good for me physically, and so fun to watch all the babies grow and progress. It is so great to have a class where I benefit physically and Anna gets the interaction and socialization with other babies. It is also a great place to meet other mom's. I have met a great group of people, most who have continued through the classes together, and we now try and meet outside of class. I started training with Kim this past summer in her Stroller Fit class. I loved it so much I signed up for her Fit Babies class as well. Thanks to Kim's programs and expertise, I am in much better shape and have met some great mommy friends. Usually, I make excuses to not go and work-out. Kim's classes are great. They are perfect for Moms and their babies. As a Mom, I get a great workout with an instructor who is very knowledgeable about postpartum issues and a place where my son can play with other babies. The ratio between instructor and Moms is small, so she can pay attention to everyone! My son was born by caesarean, so the Fit Babies class was the perfect place to start and once I was confident in this class, I moved onto Mommy Boot Camp and I love it! It is a great workout and my son loves being there too, in fact, he is so comfortable with Kim, that he goes right up to her like he has known her his whole life (which I guess he has). Even though I am going back to work soon, I am going to drop in whenever I can! ~Ina and Joel |
I started taking Kim's 'Stroller Bootcamp' class twice a week when my son was almost 3 months old. I had a goal to run Melissa's 10k Road Race in Banff by the time my son was 6.5 months old. I wanted to run the race sub 60 minutes and to conquer the dreaded "Tunnel Mountain" that the race course goes up. In completing twelve weeks of classes over a four month period, I lost over 15 lbs (getting back to my pre pregnancy weight), ran the race sub 58 minutes and the Tunnel Mountain 'hill', while unpleasant, was easily done. Kim, thanks to your class, your guidance, and your willingness to always help out with questions and extra stretches, my recovery back to the way things 'used to be' was quick and fun. I was motivated to continue with training on other days of the week or in between classes, and I also made some great friends along the way. Kim's classes are a great way to challenge yourself, but to also work at your own pace. The exercises are easily modified for those days when you're not feeling up to it, or your little one has kept you awake all night. Thanks Kim.... ~Karyn |
I gained almost 50lbs during my first pregnancy. When my daughter was seven months old, I still had 20lbs to lose and was getting frustrated. I wanted desperately to fit into my skinny jeans again! I was checking the weather forecast on TV one day and saw Kim being interviewed on Shaw cable. Her interview caught my attention because I had been looking into fitness options. I had checked out gyms and fitness centers but didn't like the idea of leaving my daughter in their babysitting facilities, and I knew I wouldn't go in the evenings when my husband was home. After seeing Kim's interview I thought, finally, I can take my daughter and get a good workout. I started with Kim's Stroller Fit class once a week. My daughter decided she didn't like being in her stroller that long and I ended up wearing her in a frame backpack. What a workout!! After a while we started going twice a week. Then by the time she was ten months old we graduated to Boot Camp Babies. I am pleased to say I fit into my skinny jeans and then actually had to buy smaller ones, as I lost the weight and several inches too! My daughter and I continued going to Kim's Boot Camp class because I love the workout and talking to the other moms, and she loves playing with the other kids. When I got pregnant with my second daughter I continued twice a week at Boot Camp until I was 39 weeks (Kim took a vacation in my 40th week, otherwise I probably would have been at class!) I know each pregnancy is different but this one was much easier and I attribute that to being in better shape. I had less nausea and vomiting, I had more energy (good thing with a toddler this time), I didn't get swollen legs, and I generally felt better. I had a 23 hour labor the first time and this one was just over four. I also recovered much faster. The best thing was I only gained 27lbs! I was able to wear real clothes at 2 weeks postpartum and my jeans at 3 weeks postpartum. My daughters and I started back at Boot Camp at 5 weeks postpartum. I am now 13 weeks postpartum and only have 8 lbs to go, skinny jeans here I come! Kim is an excellent motivator and is wonderful for giving individualized attention, so you get exactly what you need. I also really enjoy meeting other moms and the social aspect of class. I highly recommend Kim and her classes; it's a great workout and a lot of fun! ~Rachel |
