One Thing That We Can All Agree On...

is that music is rad. So what albums or songs are on you "iPod"? Now here's the catch. It can only be stuff released since 2000. Remember how you hated it when some dirtbag hippie exercising his cultural hegemony would say something like: "There's been no good music released since 1969, man!" and other dirtbag hippies would nod their heads in agreement. Here are mine: Metric - Old World Underground, Throwing Muses - Self Titled, Beck - Guero, Pixies - Live in Saskatoon, Sleater-Kinney - In The Woods, White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan, Kristin Hersh - The Grotto, Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights, Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables Yeah, I threw that last one in. And yes, I'm doing this to look cooler than you. So here's you chance to show me up. To quote George "Dubya" Bush: "Bring it on!" (Unless, of course, it's actual military service during the Vietnam war). Monti |

I'm into that White Stripes cd too. I listen to it in the car a lot. Audioslave is one I never skip on the iPod. Queens of the Stoneage good for running to also. I downloaded Lady by Lenny Kravitz and I listen to that song a lot when I run. O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack (kids like that too). Foo Fighters. That's tricky if it has to be after 2000. So tricky Monti.
Oh I forgot one to make me look cooler than monti. As I've told Becky before I dig that song Can't Get You Out of my Head by Kylie Minogue. Beat that suckas!
Usher, 50 Cent, Eminem, The Killers, Shocore, Outkast, Tupelo Honey, Social Code, Swollen Members, k-os, Kyprios, Sum 41, The Trews, Billy Talent, Bran Van 3000, Jakalope, And a bunch of stuff 7-11 year old girls listen to.
Wheee.
Ha, that's funny. I was about to ask you guys if anybody could give me recent music tips. Robert just bought a bad-ass audiophile stereo off his brother. Sub-woofer is too heavy for me to lift and speakers are 6' tall. Ridiculous. You hear background instruments you've never noticed before on songs you've listened to a thousand times. Yes, post 2000 era is tricky indeed. Agree with Monti on Beck and White Stripes (though I prefer "White Blood Cells"). Agree with Shea on Lenny Kravitz and O Brother Where Art Thou. Have to admit I dig Wheezer, the Strokes, and Offpring. Robert's into some songs by System of a Down, Tool and 311 and I kinda like it too. But clearly I could use some more advice here.
And Shea....does "I want it that way" by Backstreet Boys win me the cool prize? Nya Nee Nyaaaa.
P.S. You have to admit .....Jimmy Hendrix did rule. I mean, c'mon man!
I like Sarah McLachlan,Dido, Coldplay, Dave Matthew's, Butterfly Boucher, the Cranberries, our personal favorite,as we each have our own copy-the Garden State Soundtrack (we both recommend it if you are looking for some new tunes) and one of my long time faves,- the Empire Records Soundtrack.
I like pretty much any Nettwerk compilation there is.Actually, I like anything, I have to be listening to something, but can absolutely not tolerate COUNTRY! There you have it, that pretty much somes up the musical likes of Dar!
Oh Dar I'd love a copy of the Garden State soundtrack! Have monti copy it from rick for me!LOL!
Ok backstreet boys win over Kylie anyday. That song of hers is a good running song. Don't know if anyone else runs but I like a good beat when I do.
Shea, if you like exercising to embarrassing tunes you should try Madonna. Hahaha! I really should start up running again, endorphins are good. By the way everybody, I would like to announce that I don't like anything else by Backstreet nor do I have any of their CDs (just thought I would salvage some dignity there). It just seems that in my experience that even people who HATE that genre of music secretly like that particular song, it's kind of funny. I noticed the music was cool in Garden State too! I'll have to get it. Just thought of some more stuff that I think qualifies as post 2000 era. Blur, Cardigans, BareNakedLadies (but maybe it's more late 90s)? Agree with Dar on Sarah McLachlan and Cranberries, although all my stuff by them is from the 90s. Hey has the Tragically Hip released anything lately? I suppose Eminem is oddly intriguing in kind of a freaky way. Didn't take you for a rap fan Dave.
Hey why is there a garbage can at the bottom of my comments?
Oh.....my....GOSH!
Just went out and got the Garden State CD. When's the last time you bought a soundtrack where EVERY last song is excellent? Haven't heard music that good in a LONG time. IT's RAD! THANKYOU!
Ive been into the Rap for a long time. Several rapper friends of mine think i'm "old school" because I still listen to stuff from the late 80's early 90's. I really like beats and drums (I think you guys all knew that) and alot of Rap kinda pushes it. You should really check out Kyprios, Sweatshop Union, and Kazzer. all Canadian, all groove, big brain guys, who think alot. It's definately music to get down to.
D
Yeah old school rap! Run DMC and Beastie Boys! (Rick, remember when we tortured Randy with Run DMC? Haha) I dig beats and drums too (which you probably also knew). Sometimes I'm in the mood for some good killer base too, the more the subwoofer shakes the place the better.
