A Stroll Down Memory Lane
|
After an email from Jared today, I decided to go back and read the post "Magrath Sux" by Jason. It is so fun to reminisce about the good old days. So lets hear those stories...I know you all have some. I remember... once being at the ramp in Magrath and Shu broke her leg and Kent carried her to the Hospital. Jared punching a hole in Donna's wall on their Grad night, I also remember him coming back to fix it. an egg fight with Jason, Danny, Jeramy, Jeremy, Jared, and Scott...that was in vehicles and spanned Lethbridge. It also evolved into pumpkins, tomatos, and any other vegetable that we could steal from gardens. I also remeber that evening ending in tears for more than one person. being on the High Level Bridge with Jared, Jeramy, and Jason and a train coming when we were half way across. just to name a few. PS. Jared---No regrets. We were all mean at times. |

I remember a big plan for everybody to camp overnight at the ramp. Of course I didn't have permission from my parents, so Amy (who was sleeping over) and I snuck out. Of course when we got there it started to rain and nobody had tents and there wasn't enough room for everybody to fit underneath the ramp. Everybody started to bail, but apparently Dave W. didn't have a ride to Lethbridge so Amy and I took him back to my house. On the way back we ended up passing my Dad, who must have been called into the hospital. So I'm busted for sneaking out, but we made Dave duck down in my car so Dad didn't see him. So then we had to sneak Dave into the house because he had nowhere to sleep, so we got him in through the bedroom window and he slept on my floor. Then at about 9:00am we snuck him back out the window and he went around to the front door and we invited him in for breakfast. My parents never did figure it out.
I remember some good "sneak out" parties at Blakes house, and at "Ball's" house.
There were some fun parties a Jason's house too.
I remember going back to fix that wall. I went to Totem, bought all the supplies, drove over to Donna's and rang the doorbell.
Her dad answered the door. I felt like such an ass. I said "I'm hear to fix your wall". He didn't say anything. They left me alone to fix it. It was one of the worst feelings I ever had. Not because of the hole, but because I realized that I let my stupid anger damage friendship and trust. It took a while to change (I'm still working on it), but that was a turning point in my life.
I remember the grape nuts listening to nitzer ebb out at the ramp. We always got stoked when we had an audience watching us.
I remember those car chases across Lethbridge. After the way we would drive, I'm surprised we didn't end up in jail.
I remember my first time walking all the way across the train bridge. We each took a pebble as a token of us being "to the other side".
I also remember the lunch hour when a bunch of us left school, walked out to the middle, loosened one of the rain barrels and dropped it over the side! The ensuing chase by the police was quite exciting as well. I think we all made it back to school.
I remember sk8ing the pool at henderson lake over lunch hour. I remember going for a "pool hop" over lunch hour at the Sandman Inn.
The Magrath Ramp was always fun, but hard to ride. Those transitions were so tight and the ramp was so narrow.
Every time I here the DM song "Here is the house" I think of Jason's home. So much happened there. Jason has most of it on video tape too!
There was nothing as fun as going to a Raymond High School game (basketball, football, etc...) and heckling the jocks ("Trip and die Barry...").
