Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony...

Okay, so I am forced to wait over a month to get my new kneepads (which are, I might add, are bomb-diggitty-fantastic). They're Smiths Scabs, if you're wondering.

That really, really made me mad.

But it seems as though I have not actually been billed for said kneepads.
Karmic payback may be the order of the day. Since I was so understanding about the delays on my shipment, perhaps they decided to ship them to me at no cost.

I can dream can't I?
Stay tuned for more on this not-so-exciting drama...

Is this a good idea?

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to put up a link that says," Hey I want to post here!!".

Then it would link to a page that gave instructions on how to contact me, so other people who stumble across the Blog could start contributing.

Good idea, or not?

p.s. Hey Monti, did you get pics of the Millenium Park trip?

Bitchin'!

Yeah, a colleague of mine said it well: "You could take a group of kids to Disneyland, and they'd be complaining that you didn't stop at McDonald's on the way home." Sadly, bitching is part of human nature and from what I've seen adults are not to be seen leading out in non-bitching. The other thing to consider is the age of the kids, which is a pretty self-centered age. Younger kid: "When will this be done? Wow, I can't wait, it'll be sooo cool!" In Monti's mind: "Why would you care? You can't (or won't try to) do one thing on the stuff that's already been built, which by the way is light years ahead of what was here previously." I know I'm trying to get a twleve year old to think like a 25 year old, but yeah, it's frustrating.

The other thing they don't consider is that we all work full-time in addition to doing this. But having said that Dave and I shouldn't have bid on it if we were going to make excuses. I do think that what we've all worked to put together is seriously a world class structure that everyone involved can be very proud of. We'll be gone this weekend, but this is something I've been committed to doing at this time of year for the last three years.

Crying and Complaining

So I'm talking to some of the skaters at the ramps yesterday, and they told me that the Boarderline team conclusively wants to skate a demo in Magrath, next month.

They also told be in no uncertain terms how Francis is building very nice ramps, but what a slow son-of-a-bitch he was.

How much is enough for these guys?

Do they even realize how much better off they are than we were?

Grrrrr...frustration growing.

Just for the hell of it...

Here's another idea for a Francis Skateparks sticker.

I don't know if it's any good, but I'm throwing it up anyway.

Some things never change

Okay, so I'm sessioning last night at the new and wonderful Magrath skatepark (built by Francis Skateparks, a leader in Southern Alberta skatepark design and construction) and some BMX kids show up. I say kids, but they were probably 16-18, I couldn't tell.

Well, according to the fancy new green sign that was put in yesterday, bikes are not allowed on the skatepark. I don't necessarily agreed with the policy, but nonetheless it is in place and some of the other kids at the park tell the BMX'rs so.

Well here's the irrational part...
Rather than a)Leaving or b)Ripping it up anyway, they instead decide to hang out beside the park and smoke, swear, and harrass other skaters and inliners. Finally one of the older skaters calls them posers, they finger him, he walks over and almost-fighting occurs.

Well, needless to say, this drama wasn't appreciated, and their final gesture of stupidity was to flick their still-burning cigarette butts into the yet uncompleted pyramid.

Why, oh why can't we all get along?

I've been thinking

I was out skating and I realized I should not be tryin' to pull off a bunch of stuff. My arm is totally healed up except for this really annoying crack it makes occasionally. I remember many years ago talking about getting a long board and just cruising around. I think that time is upon me. It's gonna be all hills, carving, and pumping some clean lines in the park. I will avoid things where I could potentially damage my aging carcASS. I'll let you know how that works out for me. summer's a comin' and I want to plan my little trip with Lisa to Magrath this summer. Any ideas???

Keep it real boys

Dave

Let's kick it, Jesus style!

Okay this looks like it's going to be realy, REALLY funny...

Saved! the Movie

If the film is half as funny as the website, it'll be good.

I also found out that the film is produced by Michael Stipe.
I'm not much for Mandy Moore, but this one looks like it might have some potential.

Just as interesting as the real thing

I said it'd be legendary.
I guess it's kind of depressing in a way, but anyway...
Here it is,the Andy Kaufman blog .
