This picture comes with a story

In Victoria this summer I went and saw Faber, Bif Naked, and Nickelback play. I had been drinking ALOT. (I think I had just drank a 40 of Vanilla Stoli) I had smoked ALOT of pot (which seemed to negate the drinking) Then to top it all off I ate ALOT of mushrooms. (my first time ever)

Needless to say, I could feel gravity and all of it's influences at the tiniest levels. We went to the show and I felt like Bif Naked was making love to me. I also felt like Nickelback was making love to me as well and that was OK.

This is Bif's face when I told her that story.

I think the look says it all...

Rock and Roll is fun

Just for Carter. Glad to see you on the Blog.

Watch out for those God-fearin' folks

"Religious belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today.

According to the study, belief in and worship of God are not only unnecessary for a healthy society but may actually contribute to social problems.
"

It basically tells us that you're better off living with the godless.

Kinda flies directly into the face of the conservative right, no?

Independent Radio-Listen Up

Hey, gang!
I'm new to this blogging thing but it looks like fun so I'm trying it out.
Have you seen the video for Gwen Stephani's Hollaback Girl?" That's my shh, that's my ugh..."
I think she says shit 21 times in the unedited version.
Want to listen to some good radio? Tune in to CKXU 88.3 fm or listen online at www.ckxu.com. I'm doing my regular Tuesday night show at 6-7:30 pm. This week I'm interviewing "Nathan", a band out of Winnipeg. Keri McTigh is the singer/songwriter and she used to live in Lethbridge. Randy and her used to have a thing.
Nathan's last album, Jimson Weed, was nominated for best roots/traditional album of the year at the Juno's.They are playing at the Tongue'n'Groove Tues.&Wed. Tuesdays show is supposed to be broadcast over the internet, go to www.tonguengroove.ca for more info about that. Murray is doing it so who knows if it will actually work.
Info about Nathan is at www.nathanmusic.ca
More Later!

Don't funk with my song

Okay, am I the only one who is bothered by re-worded songs for radio release?

Imagine this: I'm at lunch, and a radio is on somewhere.
I hear a song I think I know "Oh no, no, no. Don't *MESS* with my heart."

'Mess'?
What the hell?
There's no 'mess' in that song!

I don't know why it bothers me, but it really does for some reason.

Say it Loud, Say it Proud...I AM A NERD!

Yes, it is time to write this post. I admit that I spent many a teenage Friday night in a musty basement with like-minded nerds pretending to think like a medieval adventurer. I stayed up reading novels about muscle-bound dudes, buxom women and elves 'til the early morning hours. There was a time that I was convinced that an alternate earth existed in our solar system but was kept hidden behind the sun by insect-like overlords! I have seen (almost) all of the original Star Trek episodes at least once, some, uh...more than once. I spend time in my basement playing '80s video games. I have seen the original Star Wars movie many, many times and much of those in the theatre in '77-'78. I go to toy stores about twice a month looking for action figures. I have a sizable collection (my wife thinks about $2000 worth) of Star Trek (Mego), Star Wars (Kenner & Hasbro) and GI Joe (Hasbro) action figures that dates back to the mid '70s up to the present. I was on eBay for hours at a time last year buying ans selling toys. This summer I visited the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle. Seeing the Captain's chair from the Enterprise and Kirk and Spock's tunics was a spiritual experience that I would find difficult to express using words. I also purchased some gaming dice on Friday.

My name is Monti and I am a nerd.

So how about you?

Mmm...Jello

"The gelatin you eat in Jell-O comes from the collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues. To make gelatin, manufacturers grind up these various parts and pre-treat them with either a strong acid or a strong base to break down cellular structures and release proteins like collagen. After pre-treatment, the resulting mixture is boiled. During this process, the large collagen protein ends up being partially broken down, and the resulting product is called gelatin. The gelatin is easily extracted because it forms a layer on the surface of the boiling mixture."

All I can say is...YUM!

Do you think you might be a reincarnation?

So as an exercise in pointlessness, I was thinking about Stephen Hawking.

Good 'ol Stevie was born exactly 100 years after the death of Newton ... or so I'm told. It's almost like Steve picked up when Newton left off, like a reincarnation...kinda.

So in an effort to boost my self esteem, I went and looked to see if there was someone famous who shared my interests and who died on the day I was born. Get it? Like reincarnation.

So after an intensive 3 minute search on Google, I cam up with this guy John Eckert Wallace.

He died on the day I was born and was also into computer related hijinx.

Wow. That was fun.

Hard times for Darth

This made me laugh.
