About
My practice
I am a committed adult educator with 14 years in the field as an instructor and 2 years as a full time course developer. Facilitator, designer, writer, evaluator, content specialist, I have worn many hats, often at the same time. Classroom-based, one-on-one, online and blended, I have designed learning that suits the diverse needs of diverse learners.
I have been involved with every stage of learning design and delivery, from assessing and analysing needs to designing and developing activities to evaluating the intervention. I have also been involved in program planning, where I have indentified needs in the community for learning, written proposals and actively marketed learning programs.
My operating principle
I work with the need of the learner in mind. Years ago, I received the following advice during my teacher education: if learners don't learn, it's your fault. I take this approach to heart in my work. Any learning intervention that I design, I do my best not to impress the boss, the client or the funder, but to impress upon the learner, to attempt to give them as much as they need in a learning environment to be successful.
My goals
My current professional goal is to broaden my practice as a learning designer. I would like to tackle a diverse range of projects that each require their own unique approach.
I am currently working as a course developer with an emergency medical services agency where I am designing, developing and producing learning for paramedics for face-to-face, blended, and online learning environments.
