I am not recommending the purchase any particular product on this page.  These are shown here as an example only.

In general, it is best to buy good quality shampoos, ear cleaners etc.  These are available in larger pet supply stores, vendors at dog shows/trials and your veterinarian.   If your dog has sensitivities to certain products, it is best to go with those recommended by your veterinarian.

Depending where you live fleas and ticks could be an issue.  Regarding pesticides I definitely recommend those purchased at the veterinarian, and I recommend the good advice you will get by buying them there.  In Canada, veterinary technicians have to take a course and pass an exam in order to sell pesticides, and I am sure this does not differ widely from country to country.  Therefore, you will be given the best advice possible.

Do not forget that your home will need treatment for fleas, or your dog will get them again and again.  You can buy the home product and do this yourself, or have a professional company handle the job for you.

Don't be frightened off by the number of products and supplies you see in the above photo.  Not all of these supplies are necessary, and they certainly do not need to be purchased all at once.  Some, such as the dremmel type of tool for nails are simply a nice thing to have but are not completely necessary.  When you get a new pup you will need at the very least a brush, toenail clippers and quick stop for bleeding.  The rest can be purchased in time, and as I said, some of luxury items and not completely necessary.

Or you may elect to have a professional cut your dogs nails and care for its coat, etc., if it is a coated breed, at least initially, until you begin to learn more about your dog.  Everything on this page for coat care is for dogs with a short to medium length smooth coat.  My breed is basset hounds as you will see.  The advice on mouth and foot care is useful for any breed.

With other breed types, your breeder can make some recommendations regarding care for your specific breed.
