MK the Artist
Painting the taste in painting
-Meghan Kim
Everytime I stand in front of the blank canvas, I always struggle for what to paint. Eventually I will paint something out of
it, but I may not be satisfied. I have been painting since when I was twelve. All I wanted was to be an artist. That was my
only dream and I still desire to be "the Artist".
Just like everyone tastes of the same
food differently, everyone has a different
taste when looking at a piece of art.
Perhaps that is why it is not easy to paint something and maybe that is the most difficult part to get over.
Greatly influenced by Cubistic ideas, I
like to paint with geometric elements to
create a new image. Instead of focusing
on
specific objects or ideas for years to
paint, I normally choose a theme or subjects
that interest me and set up a motif
to
paint for a certain period of the time
then move on. Sometimes I do make series.
Delicious Paintings are one of them.
What I try to represent is not the series
of repetitive images but the consistent
taste in style.
Simple, geometric, abstract,
contrast,
solid, structured, graphic, colour harmony,
puzzling, futuristic, illusionary space
and modern; all these words
describe
what I paint. However, the image shown
itself is not the ultimate answer. It is
the taste that motivates you to
seek
something more special and meaningful
because the taste changes and evolves.
