Caltech Pipette Calibration and Repair
Trained and experienced technicians carry out Service and Calibration in a controlled environment facility. All monitoring, recording and measuring equipment is calibrated and certified. This meets your CAP, GLP, GMP, ISO or JCAHO criteria.
We provide software and computer generated Certificates of Calibration for each pipette serviced and calibrated at Caltech.
There are three levels of support to cover the different needs of individual pipette users:
- Standard service and calibration
- Certified volume verification
- Certificate endorsed service and volume verification
Because
we service these pipettes in our facility we require that you
laboratory decontaminate your pipettes
before
presenting them for service or calibration. (Decontamination
certificate is available by clicking
here)
Standard Service and Calibration
The standard service and calibration involves firstly inspecting the pipette for damage or defects. It is then dismantled, cleaned and the “O”ring and seal are replaced. The pipette is then calibrated according to defined procedures for accuracy and precision with 3 readings at 20% of the nominal volume. Linearity is then checked at 100% of nominal volume. A calibration seal is attached to the pipette and a certificate is supplied.
Certified Volume Verification
Caltech strives to perform volume verification on all brands of pipettes to a tolerance of 0.09μl. This service is performed on new as well as used pipettes. Verification involves at least 30 readings taken from both the minimum and maximum volume setting. If the pipette meets specifications, a “pass” status is awarded as well as standard deviation and coefficient of verification statistics are published.
Certificate Endorsed Service and Volume Verification
The certificate endorsed volume verification is the same program as certified volume verification. Further, a completed certificate and extra copy is kept on file at the Caltech pipette centre should it ever be needed. A calibration seal is attached to the pipette. A certificate is returned to the user with the pipette.
Time Considerations
Customers in the Fraser Valley area can expect to have their pipettes calibrated overnight provided that the courier has been supplied the item by 15:30 hours. The pipettes will be returned by 10:30 the next business day.
Customers outside the Vancouver lower mainland can use either a “mail-in” service or a Caltech "customer care" shipping container and expect to have their items returned within 3 business days.
Making transport easy
Caltech will supply a sturdy light weight weather proof container with address labels to ship your pipettes. Simply wrap the pipettes in the plastic shipping foam.
We request that you include at least 4 pipette tips for each pipette and enclose them in the handy envelopes enclosed in the shipping container.
Please be sure to complete the decontamination certificate available from this website.
