The
point west of the Gates of Imladris where the river is at its most shallow marks
the only point north of the Greyflood where the Bruinen may be crossed in
relative safety. Though subject to period and violent flash floods fueled by the
cold mountain waters, the Ford remains the only point where travelers can make
their way across the river waters with little effort.
