Western Bruinen Source

North of the Elf haven of Rivendell, beyond the pass of Cirith Imladris, the snow capped Misty Mountains rise in majestic splendour, dividing Eriador and Enedwaith from Rhovanion. One of the greatest rivers of Eriador, the Bruinen, has its source within the Misty Mountains, crystal clear waters tumbling from the cliffs and heights, down to the valley of Rivendell.

Cirith Imladris is the great pass that leads from the valley of Rivendell into the Misty Mountains. The pass is the only safe entry into the Misty Mountains north of Khazad-dum, though the presence of snow lurkers, lynxes and the great snow beasts hardly makes such a passage easy or tranquil.

Iskeld's Lookout is a small Dwarven outpost that looks out over the headwaters of the Bruinen, the frozen pool which provides the great river with a good portion of its fast flowing waters. The Lookout is long abandoned, the forgotten ruins now overrun by snowbeasts.
