To eliminate the concept of waste means to design things - products, packaging, and systems - from the very beginning on the understanding that waste does not exist. While a few stabs have been made in this direction, this book is kind of a manifesto and user manual towards rethinking industrial processes. Really fantastic read.
Pet Peeve that he commits: a journey that should be one-stage he does in several bits (well, two bits in this book); he goes home over the summer and comes back to resume approximately where he left off. Very annoying. Also committed by Bill Bryson in the one about England.
