Legend
The number in front of the horse's name, is its registration number.
( ) The number in the round brackets represents the total number of offspring that the particular stallion sired. These numbers are current as of October 20, 2000.
[ / ] The first number in the square bracket is the number of male offspring which were registered as stallions (eg does not include male offspring registered as geldings). The second number (after the slash) in the square brackets represents male offspring standing at stud (determined by whether they have offspring registered to them or who are known to be standing at stud).
Blue text Denotes a stallion which has expired, been gelded or is no longer being used at stud.
Red text Denotes a stallion which has either expired or been gelded and which has left either no male offspring whatsoever, or else no male offspring at stud, with which to carry on the line. In effect, this particular branch of the male line has now died out.
Statistics
General Information:
The Brio line has the largest number of horses with a total of 1448 horses registered, making up 32% of the Canadian Horse breed.
There are approximately 83 breeding stallions from the Brio line at present. Of these, 24 are from Julo, 10 from Kosmos, 3 from Larry, 24 from Lalou, 8 from Nickie, 2 from Pruno, 2 from Romano, and 10 from Fox Royal.
Number Breakdown:
The numbers break down as follows:
-The founder of the line, Brio de la Victoire sired 6 offspring, 4 of which were colts. One colt, LG Brio Alto went on to sire 12 offspring of his own, including three sons, two of which went to stud. LG Alto Fakir sired few offspring, whereas LG Alto Fox was very prolific.
-LG Alto Fakir sired only one colt LG Fakir Leo, who in turn sired a colt De Magny Leo Romeo. This horse represents the end of this particular sire line, with no male offspring registered to him.
-LG Alto Fox sired 52 offspring, including 18 sons, 13 of which went to stud. These sons include:
-LG Fox Lalou has been the most prolific, with majority of the Brio line horses coming from him. He sired 321 offspring or 22% of the Brio line, and in fact this one stallion alone has sired nearly 7% of all Canadian Horses registered. With an additional 292 horses from Lalou's male descendants, this one branch of the Brio line makes up a total of 613 horses, or 42% of the entire Brio line, and 13% of all Canadian Horses registered. Fox Lalou sired 36 colts, 15 of which have gone to stud.
-The next largest number of horses in the Brio line were contributed by LG Fox Julo, who had 97 offspring. An additional 164 were contributed by his son's get with the total of 261 horses making up 18 % of the Brio line. LG Fox Julo sired 29 colts, 18 of which went to stud.
-Next is LG Fox Kosmos, with 11 offspring of his own, 78 by his son's offspring and their get, for a total of 89, making up 6 % of the Brio line. Kosmos sired only 2 colts, Laudes Kosmos Pacha and Verseau Kosmos Tain, both of which went to stud.
-LG Fox Nickie also makes up 6 % with 15 offspring of his own, 76 from his sons and their get, for a total of 91 horses. Nickie had only one colt, La Bute Nikie Watt, who went to stud.
-LG Fox Larry, Canadian Farm Fox Royal, and Opto Fox Romano each make up about 3 - 4 % of the Brio line. Larry had 3 sons, Fox Royal had 2, and Romano had only 1 colt go to stud.
-Mt Rouge Fox Gilo, and De Magny Fox Thomy and their offspring each make up about 2 % of the Brio line. Neither Gilo or Thomy have any first generation sons at stud.
-Beaujelais Fox Ulysse, LG Fox Nadeau, Quebecois Fox Pruno and Gitane Fox Robinson each make up l % or less of the Brio line. Pruno has one son, Gauville Pruno Figaro, at stud. Ulysse, Nadeau and Robinson have no sons at stud.
