Legend
The number in front of the horse's name, is its registration number.
( ) The number in the round brackets represents the total number of offspring that the particular stallion sired. These numbers are current as of October 20, 2000.
[ / ] The first number in the square bracket is the number of male offspring which were registered as stallions (eg does not include male offspring registered as geldings). The second number (after the slash) in the square brackets represents male offspring standing at stud (determined by whether they have offspring registered to them or who are known to be standing at stud).
Blue text Denotes a stallion which has expired, been gelded or is no longer at stud.
Red text Denotes a stallion which has either expired or been gelded and which has left either no male offspring whatsoever, or else no male offspring at stud, with which to carry on the line. In effect, this particular branch of the male line has now died out.
Statistics
General Information:
A total of 677 horses are registered in the Royal line, making up 15% of the Canadian Horse breed.
There were five sons produced by LG Royal, however only 2 of these stallions have offspring who are still at stud today (LG Barreau and Prince Royal). LG Don, and LG Blondin produced no male offspring, so this male line ended after the first generation. LG Opulent went on to sire 4 sons, all of which went to stud, however none of the sons of these four stallions went on to stand at stud, thus ending this male line as well.
There are approximately 37 Royal stallions left at stud now. 29 come from the Prince Royal branch, and 9 from Barreau.
Number Distribution:
-The most numerous of the Royal line is LG Royal's son, Prince Royal with 16 offspring, including 3 sons. All three of his sons went to stud, and between they and their progeny, they sired 425 horses. Between Prince Royal's offspring, and those from his progeny, they make up 65% of all of all Royal horses from this sire line. This number breaks down as follows:
-Bienvenue Royal Brilliant sired 27 offspring. This number, combined with those offspring of his sons made a total of 87 horses or 20% of Prince Royal Horses, and 18% of all Royal line horses.
-Bienvenue Royal Eric sired 29 offspring. This
number combined with those offspring of his sons, made a total of 49 horses or
11% of Prince Royal line Horses, and 10% of all Royal line horses.
-Bienvenue Royal Fanfaron sired 70 offspring. This number combined with those of his sons offspring, made a total of 289 horses, or 66% of Prince Royal line Horses, and 59% of all Royal line horses.
-The only other son of LG Royal with a still viable stallion line is that of LG Barreau. This stallions sired 13 offspring of his own, and had an additional 130 from his progeny and their sons, to make 143 or 21% of all of all Royal horses from this sire line.
LG Royal's other 3 sons played only a small role in the makeup of the Royal line:
-LG Opulent had 24 offspring of his own, and 45 offspring from his male progeny to make a total of 69, or 10% of all of all Royal horses from this sire line. None of LG Opulent's four sons sired any male offspring which were put to stud.
-LG Don had only 2 offspring and no stallion sons at stud, to make up 0.3% of all of all Royal horses from this sire line.
-LG Blondin with 6 offspring, no male offspring at stud, making up 0.9% of all of all Royal horses from this sire line.
