Statistics: General Information: There are a total of 1408 horses registered to the Viger line. This is the second largest line of horses, with 31% of all Canadian Horses registered. There are approximately 82 breeding stallions from the Viger line at present. 2 are from Tonka Wonka, 25 from Coco, 9 are from Duc, 31 from Fablo, 12 from Heron and 2 from Hugo. Although several branches of horses from the Viger line are numerous in number, there are still several branches of this line which are at risk of being lost.
Number Distribution The Viger line was founded by Thomas de Viger who sired 4 sons, all of which went to stud. Of the four sons that he sired, two sire lines did not continue (Prince Zola, Arnoldwold Larry).
Viger's fourth son, Arnoldwold Viger was the most prolific of Thomas de Viger's sons, siring 38 offspring, including 10 sons who went to stud. Of Arnoldwold Viger's sons: -LG Viger Fablo was the most prolific, with 33 offspring of his own, and 376 from his sons and their get, to make a total of 409. This makes up 31% of all Arnoldwold Viger horses, and 29% of all Viger line horses overall. Fablo sired 15 sons, 13 of which went to stud. -LG Viger Coco, with 87 offspring of his own, and 258 from his sons and their get, to make a total of 345. This makes up 26 % of the Arnoldwold Viger horses and 24% of all Viger line horses. Coco sired 26 sons, 20 of which went to stud. -LG Viger Heron had 36 offspring of his own, and 209 from his sons and their get, to make a total of 245. This makes up 17% of the Arnoldwold Viger horses, and 18% of all Viger horses overall. Heron had 10 sons, 3 of which went to stud. Of these Industrie Heron Pierrot was the most prolific.
-LG Viger Hugo sired only 2 offspring, only one of which went to stud. This son and his progeny have sired 83 offspring to make a total of 85 horses from this line. This contributes 6% of the Arnoldwold Viger horses and 6.5% of all Viger line horses. This branch of the Viger line may possibly be at risk of disappearing, as there are currently standing only the 2 grandsons left from this line. Neither have many male offspring registered, and none of their offspring are at stud. -Several branches of the Arnoldwold Viger line have already been lost due to a lack of male offspring. These include Beau Site Viger Marco, LG Viger Copain, LG Viger Elan, Opto Viger Etoile D'Or, and LG Viger Lafite.
