St. Columba Church
A Welcoming Church
We are blessed to have a most beautiful church set in the midst of the tourist community of Tofino. Members have always taken a great deal of pride in maintaining the church in wonderful shape. Historians abound our church, so we are fortunate to have an ever-expanding gallery of photos that help to preserve the history of our church and region. Members also strive have our church open as much as possible, so that tourist can visit our historic church building, and to find a placed of quiet in the midst of life.
Sunday Service
Our weekly Sunday service takes place at 11 AM, and is attended by about twenty people. In the summer, especially, we might have almost as many visitors as resident members! It makes for a wonderful symbol that the church is indeed as world-wide communion, and it makes for great conversation after the services. We have had a strong core of members over many years. As more people move to the community, we have been welcoming new people who enjoy the experience of worship in our historic and ‘embracing’ church.
All Church Women
Our women’s group, the ACW (‘All Church Women’) is an active group that takes a leading role in maintaining and beautifying our church building. Annual Garage Sales and Bazaars, pie sales and other events both help to raise money for our church ministry, but also are sources of community-building.
Bible Study
Each Wednesday, we have a Bible Study (2:30pm, in the ‘Upper room’). It is a lively exchange of reflections on the readings for the following Sunday. We welcome visitors to join us when they are visiting Tofino. (For one couple that joined us, joining us for bible study also led them to renew their vows at one of our resorts!
