As I hike throughout our beautiful countryside, I find huge rocks sitting in spots that defy their origin from a nearby mountain. The only explanation that meets the facts is a glacier deposited them. Because of their odd location, they are given the name" IRRATIONALS".
Here are some images of these anomalies and I will add to the collection as they are discovered.

A favourite hike is the Mel deAnna loop near Castlegar. The variety of scenic changes is emphasized by the sight of this huge rock sitting beside the trail. It is almost square with enough irregularity to scramble up the back side. |

Selkirk College recently opened a trail below Glade towards the Brilliant Dam. This monster rock sits beside the road on the approach. |

An opportunity to see a few remaining ancient trees is found on the Old Growth trail up Kokanee Creek. This spectacular rock has been cleft and the path passes through it! |

As we beat our way up the mountain on the trail-less access to the Devil's Hole Lake, we came across this sample. It struck me that it should be named the "Baboon's Head". |
