John Eyerman was a Lafayette College graduate (1884). According to his biography in The Mineralogical Record (http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=570), he was also for a time on the faculty and lectured in mineralogy. According to The Mineralogical Record biography: " Little is known about the nature of his mineral collection, or whether it was built by purchase or field collecting, but part or all of it was donated to Lafayette College upon his death." As indicated, John's wife, Lucy, was the sister of Henry D. Maxwell, author of The Maxwell Family. Descendants of John and Ann Maxwell. 1701-1894, see "References" for more information. John Eyerman was also a genealogist, one of his major genealogy treatise being The ancestors of Marguerite Eyerman: a study in genealogy, 48 pages 1898—available (2006) from Higginson Books.
In 1900 and 1910, the family was living in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, where John apparently had himself enumerated as a "Capitalist" in 1900 (page 8B), and as "own income" in 1910 (page 13B). By 1860, Washington had died, and Mary E. and family were living in the household of Mary E.'s mother, Sarah, in Bushkill Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (page 238).
The information on Washington McCartney extracted here is from Historical sketches of Lafayette College,
1876, by W. B. Owen, page 19. Washington graduated from Jefferson College. In 1837 he became Professor of Mathematics at Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania; where he "published his celebrated work upon 'Differential Calculus,' which for many years was the text-book on that subject used in our best colleges."
