1315. ISAIAH7 GILSON (called Gil) CLIFFORD (Carson6 Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born January 1880; married BERTHA [-?-]; born circa 1882 in England. In 1910, Isaiah, Bertha and son Irvin were liviing in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania; in 1920, Isaiah, Bertha and son Irvin were living on Beale Avenue, Altoona, Pennsylvania, at which time Isaiah was enumerated as a linesman for Bell Telephone.3223 In 1930, Isaiah (enumerated as "Isak") and Bertha, no children, were still in Altoona and Isaiah was still working for the telephone company.3224 From Lacy (Clifford) Lewis's "Early memories," page 4: Gill came out home often, after he came home from his travels (he had been to England and many places) - when he was married at 1913 or 1914 - his wife called him "Sailor Boy" - I liked Gill, a son of Carson and Melissa very much, but lost track of them after I was married and we had so much sickness in the family.

FELTON (Mary6 Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 9 January 1873; died 22 May 1939; married, 21 April 1896, ZULA MALETTA HAIN (or Hane); born 8 April 1872 in Pennsylvania; died 29 October 1955.3226 Both Edward and Zula are buried in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Zula's father was John Hain as reported in Zula's marriage announcement, which states both Edward and Zula were from Sunbury and were to reside on Third and Church Street, Sunbury.3227 Zula's mother was Joanne Neyhart.3228 In 1897, Edward was listed as a telegrapher for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Sunbury.3229 In 1920, Edward and Zula and family were still living in Sunbury, where Edward was enumerated as a train dispatcher.3230 In 1930, Edward and Zula were living alone in Sunbury, where Edward was still enumerated as a dispatcher for the railroad.3231

SAMUEL7 ERNEST FELTON (Mary6 Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 6 November 1876 in Pennsylvania; died 1 October 1945; married (first) EMMA CARDELLA BYERLY; born 1878; died 21 July 1914; married (second) ELIZABETH [-?-].3239 Both Ernest and Cardella are buried in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.3240 In 1897, Ernest was listed as a call boy for the Pennsylvania Railroad.3241 In 1920, Ernest was living with his mother and some siblings in Sunbury, where he was listed as a "widower" and a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad.3242 Ernest was still listed as a widower in 1930, when he was living alone in Sunbury and still enumerated as a clerk for the railroad.3243
1326. ELSIE7 CLIFFORD (Edward6, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 12 September 18693247 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania [Blairsville is in Burrell Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, but there is a small hamlet called Blairsville Intersection in Derry Township, Westmoreland County]; died of a heart attack September 1938 while at work in Altoona; interred 14 September 1938 in Fairview Cemetery, Altoona, Pennsylvania. Elsie came to Altoona as a child with her parents. In 1910, she was the only child enumerated with her parents in Altoona.3248 In 1920, Elsie was still living with her parents in Altoona, 5th Ward, enumerated as working in the YMCA office.3249 In 1930, she was living by herself in Altoona and working as a credit clerk in the Altoona Hospital.3250 She was still working as a credit clerk in the Altoona Hospital when she died in 1938. Elsie was active in church and lodge work. For example, she served as secretary for the Blair County Sunday School Association, secretary to the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, secretary of the Altoona YWCA board of directors, secretary of Jordan Shrine, and treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star in Altoona. She won honors in a nationwide hymn writing contest.3251 1329. (tentative) WILLIAM7 F. CLIFFORD, (Edward6, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born March 1878; interred 24 May 1924 in Fairview Cemetery, Altoona;3252 married LEONA [-?-]; born circa 1884. That William Clifford, son of Edward, married and had a family is based on the William Clifford living on 8th Avenue, Altoona, as reported in the 1920 soundex for Clifford of Pennsylvania and the 1920 federal census, in which William was enumerated as an railroad inspector.3253
1332. JAMES7 EDWARD CLIFFORD (called Edward), (Edward6, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born February 1881; died in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, 5 June 1939; married ADDA E. KANE; born circa 1883 in Pennsylvania.3254 In 1920 an "Anna" M. Treese, "M-L," age 71, was living with James and Adda.3255 I can not resolve Anna Treese being "mother-in-law" of James Edward Clifford, unless she had remarried a Treese. James's brother, Clair, did marry a Treese, see next. In 1905, when son Lester was born, James was listed as a clerk in Altoona. In 1920, James and family were living on Beale Avenue, Altoona; at this time James was enumerated as a (railroad?) gang leader.3256 In 1930, James and "Ida" were living alone in Altoona, and James was listed as a machinist for the railroad.3257
1333. CLAIR7 (CLARE) LESTER CLIFFORD (Edward6, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 19 January 1887; died 10 June 1936 of a heart attack; interred in Fairview Cemetery, Altoona, Pennsylvania,3264 or the Alto-Reste Cemetery (Altoona?);3265 On 12 December 1906, he married RUTH EMMA TREESE,3266 born 28 March 1895; died August 1978, a resident of Altoona.3267 She was a daughter of James and Agnes Treese. In 1910, Clair, Ruth and daughter Lavenia were living in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.3268 In 1920, the three were living on Ninth Avenue, Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania; Clair was enumerated as an electrician.3269 In 1930, Clair, Ruth, daughter Lavinia and her first husband, Glenn Brickley, were still in Altoona; also in the household was Dean Treese, age 44, brother of Ruth.3270 Clair worked in the electric shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona. He was a member of the fire company. His obituary is in the Altoona Tribune 11 June 1936.

JAMES7 ROSS CLIFFORD (Phillip6 Bannon Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 24 April 1883; died 1955, buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona, Pennsylvania; married (first) ANNA RIFE; born circa 1887;3272 died 1911; married (second) RUTH E. RIFE; born circa 1886;3273 she was a sister of Anna (Rife) Clifford; both Rife sisters were born in Chambersburg, ?Greene Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.3274 In 1920, James and Ruth were living next door to Ruth's parents in Logan Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania. James was enumerated as a clerk on the railroad.3275 At the time of the 1920 federal census, their daughter, Ruth E. Clifford, was living with her Clifford grandparents, who were next door to James and Ruth. (Altoona is in Logan Township, but Logan Township also encompasses other areas.) In 1930, James, Ruth and Ruth were still in Altoona, where James was enumerated as working in the car shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad.3276 There was a James R. Clifford who married Verna S. Garland in Blair County, Pennsylvania, in 1924.3277

LACY7 MAY CLIFFORD (Phillip6 Bannon Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 21 May 1885; died 1971 in Colorado; in 1905,3279 she married LUCIUS HOWARD LEWIS; born 1885; died 1947.3280 In 1920, Lacy, Lucius and son Clifford were living next door to Lacy's parents in Logan Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania; at this time Lucius was enumerated as a machinist for the railroad.3281 In 1930, still in Altoona, Lucius, Lacy and children were still in Altoona, where Lucius was enumerated as a (section) gang foreman on the railroad.3282 Lacy (Clifford) Lewis was the author of the treasured Clifford document, "Early memories of P. B. Clifford and his children" (see References).
1336. MATILDA7 CLIFFORD (Phillip6 Bannon Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 16 September 1887; died 1965; married JAMES E. SIMPSON; born circa 1887.3284 In 1930, James, Matilda and children Paul and Harold were living in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where James was enumerated as a machinist helper for the Pennsylvania Railroad.3285

FOOR; born circa 1885 in Bedford, Pennsylvania.3286 In 1930, the family was living in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where Clayton was listed as working for the Pennsylvania Railroad.3287

SARA JANE7 CLIFFORD (Phillip6 Bannon Clifford, James5, Charles4, Charles3, James2, unknown Clifford1); born 16 August 1892 in Altoona, Pennsylvania; died 1968; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona. On 10 October 1919 in Williamsburg (Woodbury Township, Blair County), Pennsylvania,3288 she married WILLIAM ARTHUR BROWN; born 14 January 1892; died 16 January 1955. William was a son of Harry Henry and Margaret (Barley) Brown.3289 In 1920, William and Sara were living as boarders in the household of Clyde and Lillian Fluke and their family in Altoona, Pennsylvania.3290 At that time William was enumerated as an electrician for the railroad. In 1930, William (still enumerated as an electrician for the railroad) and Alice and children were still in Altoona, Pennsylvania.3291
