Beckwoman's

Beckwoman's at 1314 Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC is a destination, not just a store. It is floor-to-ceiling full of everything your inner hippy would love and then some. I go there for all the fun(ny) stuff like the fridge magnet I got for my filing cabinet at work (the photo here). Some of the magnets, bumper stickers and t-shirts are pee-your-pants funny. There's other stuff too, like batik dresses, tie-died shirts, beaded curtains, sarongs, incense, and jewelry and knick-knacks from around the globe. Truly a fun place to go and spend a little of your hard-earned money. Warning, though... if you're clausterphobic, this isn't the store for you.

Comments:
My wife and I and my 23 month year old daughter tried to visit the store. We are from kelowna. We had just stepped in, when we were being watched like a hawk, and since we had not been to the store we did not know what to expect in the store. We were asked to leave because we wanted to browse. I grew up and east van just up the road from the store. I can't believe any store owner would treat anyone like that. I will make sure to tell people never to go to that store.
Her excuse for kicking us out is that the store was closed for people who want to browse.

I also had a terrible experience with the store owner today. This is a store I used to love to frequent, though it was not until today that I encountered the rude, aggressive store owner because I wanted to buy something. I had asked to see something and she started out by saying that it was a certain price but if I wanted we could negotiate it for a few dollars cheaper. When I tried on said item, she noticed that it may need to be altered and said she would do it 'free of charge', before I had a chance to agree, she had started cutting the edges of it. When I showed hesitance because I hadn't completely decided on buying it and she became extremely cold and said 'well, you took interest and I thought there had been a commitment made, you can't go back on it now, I've already cut it'. I hadn't even paid yet. Then, when I did agree to pay, she overcharged me, when I asked about her comment about making it a few dollars cheaper she claimed that she did (but the math didn't add up) and 'plus, i'm altering it for you'. I left feeling pressured, humiliated and angry. Not going back there.
