It became clear reading news groups on the Internet in 1998 that a resource for passengers sailing from Vancouver to Alaska was needed. I created Vancouver Cruise Watch in November, 1999 and continued to update it through the 2006 Alaska cruise season.

The Internet world has changed completely since 1999. Now all the cruise lines have web sites and there is a wealth of information on cruises and cruise ships online. So in 2008 I decided to change the site. I am creating an archive of the 1999-2006 cruise ship seasons for reference and interest. Other sections of the site still contain a lot of important and helpful information and have been kept.

Unlike today's web sites with Flash, interactivity etc., Cruise Watch was originally created in 1999 using HTML in HomeSite, CorelDraw and PhotoShop. Since 1993, photos have been taken with my Sony DSC-V1 digital camera. Prior to that, I used a Hanimex 35mm and scanned them on the Microtek ScanMakerX6EL!!

It has been a pleasure putting these pages together in order to assist cruise enthusiasts and visitors to Vancouver. Should you find any problems in viewing or navigating Cruise Watch, please let me know by clicking any of the "Contact" or "Email Susan" links. Your comments and questions are also welcome.

Susan & Star

Susan lives in Vancouver, B.C. where she works in content development for print and web publications. Her academic background in music history, theory and criticism has provided an excellent basis for her current profession.

Susan has been exploring the world by sea since she was a child. In 1989 she started writing about cruising, contributing articles to many newspapers, magazines and guide books including The Unofficial Guide to Cruises. Earning her webmaster credentials in 1999, she launched Cruise Watch and was Associate Editor with CruiseMates.com from 2000 to 2006. Susan has also worked as a travel agent making arrangements for clients around the globe. While studying the cruise industry in Southern Florida in 1993, Susan had the opportunity to work aboard NCL ships, on turnaround days in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

Susan has toured and sailed on over 100 ships. Below are the logs of her cruises, crossings and ship tours:
