Our History

Castleview had it's beginnings as the Greater Victoria Nursery School, Kindergarten and Day Care, the first nursery school program in Victoria.  Started in 1935 by Miss Ashdowne, it operated as a private nursery school for many years.  Upon her retirement, the parents of the school formed a non-profit society and purchased the school.  The school continued on Oak Bay Avenue until the current location on Joan Crescent was purchased and converted from a Montessori School to the Greater Victoria Nursery School.

Castleview has continued to operate as non-profit society since it's incorporation in 1958. The centre is run by an elected board of directors made up of parents who hire qualified staff to run the school program.

Castleview's long history continues only through the dedication and caring of the parents and staff.  Thank you for your support!
