I've got the Tshirt as proof.

On April 27th,2003 I walked my first MS fund raising walk. The walk had three different routes with three different distances. Of course I wanted to walk the longest distance. My husband Rick , my dog Jake and I started out. Jake my wonder dog was equipped with his back pack to carry his water and a few small items of mine. I considered this walk his training in helping me out for all our future outings. Well he passed the test and loved helping me out.

We started out on our walk with the rest of the walkers. From experience I know not to stop or slow down while walking . If I do , I end up dragging myself to continue with my journey. Well, we came to our first fork in the walks choice of direction. I looked up the hill then to the right. The flat sidewalks looked much more appealing to me than the up hill walk. And I could see it appealed to many more of the walkers.

So now I had changed our plans and we ended up doing the shortest route. As we approached the finish line we were greeted with clapping hands, horns blowing and smiling faces. I somehow did not take pride in completing the walk. It just showed me that my limitations have declined over these last few years. But what I did feel was joy. Joy in being able to help with raising money for a good cause. Joy with seeing so many show up, young and old. Joy in knowing with every step us Msers take we are one step closer to finding a cure.

Will I be back next year? You bet and I plan again to walk the longest route knowing it will bring me closer to a common goal, a cure for MS.
