What part of NO do you not understand?
On June 3rd I had my second appointment
at UBC's MS clinic. What the appointment was for I did not know. I figured
it was to see how I was coming along.
I arrived with husband. When we walked into the clinic we were stared at by all.
Hasn't anyone seen a MSer wearing full leathers, jacket and chaps. I
think they thought we were lost. But what I did find out that day is that bikers
have the number one parking spots. Even better than the Doctors and those with handicap stickers.
Caution I do not recommend a motorcycle for all MSers as a parking solution.
I soon
found out what the appointment was all about. I think they could have just called
me on the phone
for all my "NO" answer. No, I do not want to drive in on a regular basis an hours drive each
way to be part of their research. No, I do not want to suffer from claustrophobia
with regular MRI's. No , I do not want to make numerous trips to give blood.
No, I do not want to sit in your boring waiting room for an hour
for my appointment. Yes, I would
love to help with getting closer to an MS cure but not at the cost of my stress
level with all the trips. The high pressure sales started, guilt trip laid. I offered
no explanation with my NO answer as one is not needed. It really was none of their buisness.
Reality is each trip will be equivalent to four hours and that will all depend on the
traffic. Forget that nonsense. I do not do appointments anyway. Waiting is hard on me.
Organizing and getting ready for appointments stress me out.
A once a year appointment is fine for me. "Never" would be perfect.
I wonder if
next years appointment I should make
on Halloween . I think Morticia would be appropriate for the
grande entrance.
