As you lay beside me in sleep.
God sent you as a gift for me,
When I asked him for some needs.
I told him I needed some gentleness,
And a little humor too.
I also needed more patience,
And that I found in you.
I needed something to appreciate,
And something to admire.
And then he sent me some extra needs,
That really made me smile.
I love your understanding,
And all our differences too.
God knew what he was doing,
When he sent a gift like you.
Then God told us a little secret,
Just between him, me, and you.
He said our love was meant to be,
Long before we ever knew.
And every day as we live our lives
I think about my needs.
God sent me everything I could want,
When he left your heart print on me.
