TRICKS I WAS TAUGHT

AND HOW I LEARNED THEM

SHAKE PAW:
I simply taught Striker to give me his paw by offering my hand and practiced until he associated the trick with the command. As soon as he gave me his paw I would give him a treat.

SHAKE THE OTHER PAW :
As soon as he learned how to offer his paw and after treating, I would say "other paw". Then I would pysically lift the opposite paw. Then I would say paw and treat again. Striker picked this trick up very fast. After telling him paw and giving me his paw, I would vary it with saying "no not that one! The other one!" OR "right paw, left paw"

I AM SO SMART I CAN COUNT:
I start this trick off with Striker sitting on a stay. I then place a hummy treat a few feet away from him. I then tell him that on the count of three he can have the treat. I tell him he has to listen carefully and that after the one, two , three he can take the treat. I then count ONE, Two, FOUR, Five then THREE. As soon as I say the word three he gets up and takes his treat. I can use any combination of numbers as he was conditioned to break his stay and take his treat as soon as he hears the word three. While patterning him for this trick ... I gave him lots of praise when the word THREE was said.

HOW TO WAVE:
Since Striker already knows how to shake a paw waving the paw is an easy trick to learn. I start of asking him to give me his paw. When he gives me his paw, instead of taking it I instead do a little wave while saying "Wave your paw".

Watch for more tricks as he learns them.
