Annacis Island - named for Frances Noel Annance, a member of
the Hudson's Bay Company party lead by McMillan in 1824. This party may
very well have been the first group of white men to stay overnight in what
is now Delta.

Annieville - named after a Mrs.
Laidlaw, later Mrs. Peter Behrill. Mr. Laidlaw was a cannery owner.

Bridge Street - formerly called
Chilukthan Street, re-named in 1930's when the construction of the bridge
across Chilukthan Slough was contemplated.

Benson Road - named after Harry D.
Benson, reeve of Delta for 5t/z years, a member of the first municipal
council and second reeve.

Brandrith Park/Road - named after the
Brandrith family who were early settlers in South Delta.

Chisholm Street - named after Donald
Chisholm, a former member of parliament for New Westminster Riding,
builder of the first store and hotel in Ladner.

Canoe Pass - named and used by miners
heading for the Cariboo goldfields in 1858 when they entered the river.

Crescent Island and Crescent Island Slough
- named because of the physical shape of the slough.

Deas Island - named for the first
settler on the island, Mrs. J.W. Deas.

Embree Road - named for the Embree
family, early settlers in East Delta.

Fraser River - named after Simon
Fraser who followed the river almost to its mouth in 1808.

Farrell Road - named for R. Farrell,
an early settler who later moved to Victoria.

Main, a former member of the municipal council.

George Massey Tunnel – Named after
George Massey.

Green Road - named for Charles F.
Green, one of the very early settlers, former school trustee and the
second municipal clerk.

Goudy Road - named after William Goudy,
early settler on the road and a former member of the municipal council.

Hutcherson Road - named for Harry J.
Hutcherson, Reeve of Delta from 1909 to 1910.

farm operated by Thomas McNeeley, pioneer merchant.

Kittson Road/Way - named for Robert E.
Kittson, former reeve, councillor and school trustee.

Kennedy - named for James Kennedy who
was the first settler in this part of North Delta.

Ladner - named for William H. Ladner
who originally preempted and settled on the land now occupied by Ladner.
The name was originally Ladner's Landing but this was changed to Ladner in
1903 or 1904 when H. N. Rich was postmaster. (Always known as "H. N.".)

London Road - named for Richard
London, an early settler on Westham Island.

Ladner Trunk Road - built in 1874 to
connect Ladner with Hope.

settled in the area in 1890.

Matthews Road - named for a Mr.
Matthews, an early settler in East Delta.

Oliver Road - named for John Oliver,
former Reeve of Delta and Premier of British Columbia.

Captain George Vancouver for a shipmate.

Port Guichon - former post office and
terminus of the Great Northern Railway, named for Mr. Laurent Guichon, an
early landowner.

Parmiter Road - named after Arthur J.
Parmiter who settled in Delta in 1874.
