ABOUT OUR ASSEMBLY


 
In February, 1955, a number of members of Kamloops Council No. 1614 received a letter of invitation from Master Joseph F. Brown to apply for membership in the Fourth Degree.
 
Several meetings were held and Gordon Bregoliss was elected chairman.  Through his untiring efforts, formation of the Assembly commenced.
 
On July 31, 1955, a letter from Master Brown was received granting permission of Local Assembly No. 1614 at Kamloops to elect officers.  The following were the first officer elected:
 
Faithful Navigator:  G. A. Bregoliss
Captain:  V. A. Arduini
Admiral:  H. R. Jeffers
Comptroller:  A. E. Wright
Pilot:  F. X. Potter
Inner Sentinel:  P. J. Keenan
Outer Sentinel:  A. J. Beliveau
 
Faithful Friar:  Most Rev. M. A. Harrington, Bishop of Kamloops
 
These officers, along with seventeen additional charter members were initiated October 1, 1955, at Vancouver, B.C.  One other charter member, S. F. Jessome, was initiated at Mobile, Alabama, U.S.A., on October 23, 1955, while on duty there with the Canadian Army.  The Charter Officers were installed at Kamloops on February 5, 1956, by Master Joseph F. Brown.   On September 27, 1958, ten additional members were initiated in Vancouver, B.C.
 
When members from Williams Lake joined the Local Assembly 1614, a second charter was granted, forming the general assembly, known as Fr. LeJeune General Assembly 0033.
