International Projects

Thanks to an incredibly talented teacher over in Belgium, Mr. Van Parys, Room 2 has been involved in the most interesting, international, computer projects!  Take a peek below to see what we have been up to in the past!.

Our 2008 Project was awarded the eTwinning Award, and the "Hand in Hand" Project! was a "Global Challenge Project Winner" in 2007.

Here's What We Did!

The goal of the project was to learn more about "where we live", and to share this with our project classes, and the world through this site.

The students were asked to draw their landscape, their community, or their world.  These drawings were taken to the "computer" through a cool program called Tux Paint.  Finally, the students used an animation program, to add "action" to their pictures.

Unfortunately, we were not able to use the animation program on our school computers, and so we were lucky enough to have a collaborating class take our Tux Paint drawings, and add the animation to them!  Truly, an International, Collaboration of Students through the World Wide Web!

The class took a fall walk, and sketched their surroundings.

The students also used their computer skills to create pictures of an Alberta Winter, and what they enjoy about winter!

Once again, some collaboration, and the pictures were animated!

The students made "real pictures" in art class which were also photographed and sent over to Belgium...

Finally, students in Belgium added animation to the "real art work!"

2007 -2008

Here's What We Did!

Every class in the project was mailed a set of "Google eyes", and were asked to make a "hand print character" showing an emotion.

These hand prints were scanned and sent back to Belgium where Mr. Van Parys, posted them for all to see.  The number of schools involved, and the countries and ages of the students was incredible!

These "pictures" were then made into a game, with a set of cards sent to every school involved...the cards showing a variety of emotions, with the student's art work and emotion on the card.

2005 - 2006

Here's What We Did!

Boy, were the kids ever excited to receive...a box of chenille!  Our task...to create imaginary (or real) creatures.  We then took pictures of them all, and chose a few to begin the long journey over to Belgium.  The students were so excited when Mr. Van Parys finally emailed us to say that our friends had arrived. Now it was up to him.

Our creatures were "photographed" - well, not really, but through some technological magic, they were made into "stamps"  These stamps were added to others made from little chenille creatures mailed from all over the world, and a "set of our Tux Paint" animals were sent to each teacher.  Now the students could create pictures using "stamps" made in their own classes!

The pictures were once again sent via email, and were shared through the classes, and with the world, through the project site!
