Vancouver Canucks vs. Anaheim Ducks The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim joined the NHL for the 1993-94 season. The Canucks usually perform well against this team from Southern California. Prior to the 2006-07 season, the team changed its name from the "Mighty Ducks" to the "Ducks". The Canucks have met the Ducks in the playoffs once. Historical Notes: Gerald Diduck was the first Canuck to score against the Ducks ... Trevor Linden set a team record, scoring just nine seconds into a game against Anaheim (January 16, 1994) ... At the Ducks' home opener in 1995, their mascot nearly got roasted when he tried to jump through a ring of fire ... Alexander Mogilny set a team record by scoring three goals in just 2:55 against the Ducks (December 22, 1995) ... The Canucks and Ducks opened the 1997-98 NHL season with back to back games in Tokyo, Japan ... Steve and Paul Kariya met for the first time at the NHL level on December 8, 1999. |
