Vancouver Canucks vs. Los Angeles Kings The Los Angeles Kings entered the NHL for the 1967-68 season. During the 1970s and 1980s, the Kings usually won contests between the two teams. Beginning in the late 1980s, the Canucks dominated the Kings for several seasons. More recently, the two teams have been more evenly matched. The Canucks and Kings have met in the playoffs three times. Historical Notes: The Canucks played host to the Los Angeles Kings in their first NHL game on October 9, 1970 ... Barry Wilkins scored the first NHL goal in Canuck history against the Kings ... Bobby Schmautz recorded his first hat trick against the Kings (November 17, 1972) ...
