Before you start contacting the Scooter Shops listed below for aftermarket parts, you'll have to know a few things about model interchangeability. For a comprehensive listing of Honda scooters, their indivdual frame codes, engine codes and their parts codesbookmark this page as it will be useful when ordering parts. When ordering parts have the year and model number (ie SK50) of the scooter and the engines serial # (located on the engine casting beside the rear wheel ) as saying you have an "Elite" isn't enough. If you've got the motor apart or know what the cylinder base gasket looks like, take a look at this page to determine which type of cylinder you may have on your scooter.
Honda 50cc 2 Stroke
performance parts
Aftermarket parts generally originate from outside North America where different names were used to describe the various Honda 50cc scooters. Honda has sold their scooters as "Vision", "Lead" and "Dio" in Europe however in North America those names won't mean much to a Honda parts department. For the most part Honda scooters were designated as "Elite" in the North American market. There was also a Spree and an Aero prior to the Elite being introduced in 1988.
So how do you know which part to order when there is no "Elite" listed in the catalogues? The "Dio" designation used in a lot of parts catalogues is the 1994 and newer "Elite" and has quite a few differences from previous models . The wristpin is larger (12mm vs 10mm), the stroke and bore are different, the drive cover is two piece, not one. The cylinder is quite different (see gasket page) both in the cylinder to crankcase mating and the angle the exhaust exits from the cylinder. My 1990 Elite LX, although it is different than the "Vision" model, shares the same Exhaust Systems, Air Filters, Variators and I suspect even transmission kits as the "Vision". Generally parts for the Honda "Vision" would fit a 1988~93 Elite with the exception of the cylinder kit. Depending on the brand of aftermarket cylinder, it will either need some minor modification or will not fit .
Given a choice, the 1994 and newer Elite motor should be used if you intend to do extensive modifications (watercooled cylinder, 30mm carb, 85cc cylinder kit). The two reasons for this are the increased strength of the crankshaft and the larger amount of aftermarket performance parts for this model. Its possible to retrofit older Hondas with a newer (1994 on) modified motor.
