About Me

I made my first print years ago while attending a darkroom night school course. Looking back, the print was a disaster of photographic print quality and composition. Although the composition was poor, I was very proud of my first image and I hope that you were, or will be, delighted with your first image.

Years of darkroom work, reading and discussion with other photographers has increased my abilities in the darkroom and made photography more satisfying. For many years I did darkroom work at home and I also did part time work in a commercial photographers studio and darkroom, where I worked with large format film processing, black and white printing, retouching and mounting. While darkroom work is still exciting, my focus is gradually shifting toward digital photography, the digital darkroom and the associated learning curve of photographic editing software.

I have written this web page with the hope of sharing my knowledge of the Black and White Darkroom and all of its wonders. In doing so, I hope that you will come to enjoy your hobby more and become a better printer and photographer.

If you have a question, please read my "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) page or go to my "Ask A Question" page and write out your question. I will attempt to give you an answer, or at least attempt to refer you to an article on the internet. I will update this site, when needed.
