Hidden Valley MotorSports Park

Claimer Class Rules

 

General:

 

1.   ANY car maybe claimed by any spectator for $420.00 within 15 minutes of the end of the Last Feature Race. Any competitor or pit pass holder may claim any car finishing in the top 5, within 15 minutes. Multiple claims will be settled by random draw. Claims may be made with cash, certified cheque, money order/draft or credit card (if transaction can be processed and available).

 

2.   Drivers MUST agree to the $420.00 claim for the entire car, as is, at the end of the last feature race. The only attached item that may be removed is the driver’s seat belt / race harness. $20.00 of each claim will be paid to a charity designated by Drumheller Demolition Derby Club. Entry into any event for this class shall indicate acceptance of the claim rule.

 

3.   Competitor's cars may be stored at Drumheller’s Motorsport Park for a nominal fee. Cost of storage will be $20.00 from race to race. Cars MUST be registered with Management/Tech prior to being left on site. A registration form is available at Tech. The storage cost MUST be paid prior to leaving the event. Limited access will be provided to the cars between race events. If a vehicle requires work before the next race event, it is strongly recommended that the vehicle be removed from Drumheller’s Motorsport Park. Vehicles stored for more than two races without being raced and/or the storage fee being paid shall become the property of Drumheller Demolition Derby Club and shall be re-sold. When a car is first claimed, the new owner will receive free storage privileges from the date of the claim until the next race. DRUMHELLER DEMOLITON DERBY CLUB ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR STORED VEHICLES. FEES ARE FOR USE OF STORAGE SPACE ONLY. VEHICLES STORED ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE OWNER ASSUMES ALL LIABILITIES FOR THE VEHICLE AND THE STORAGE.

 

4.   Drumheller Demolition Derby Club is NOT responsible for any liability, theft or damage to any vehicle on the Park’s grounds.

 

5.   Nothing may be painted or lettered on the car, which may be considered offensive. All cars will be screened before entry to the track surface and cars not conforming shall not compete.

 

6.   Numbers must be painted or decaled on the roof and front side doors. Minimum 16” in height and 2 ½” in brush width. Numbers must be white or black and contrast with the car. All numbers must all be similar in appearance. The base of the roof number must face the passenger side. Any number not deemed legible may have to be changed.

 

7.   All drivers MUST hold a VALID Class Five Provincial Drivers Licence. The License must be shown at Tech on request. You will not be allowed to race without a valid Driver’s License. Driver must be present when car is teched.

 

8.   You cannot do any modification unless these rules state you can.

 

9.   Decisions of the officials are final in all cases.

 

10. Any competitor, Pit crew member, (including friends, mechanics, etc) using alcohol, drugs or under the influence on the premises shall be asked to leave and no further entries will be accepted.

 

11. Drumheller Demolition Derby Club reserves the right to alter, amend, add, delete or modify these rules at any time without prior notice.

 

 

Vehicle:

 

1.   Open to any front wheel drive, 4 cylinder, and automatic transmission car, van or truck.

 

2.   Car MUST remain stock, as is from the factory, with normal wear and tear. Absolutely NO gutting of car metal permitted. This includes hood, trunk, door skins, fenders, quarter panels, roof and inner fenders.

 

3.   Only normal replacement parts may be replaced, and only functionally similar parts.

 

4.   Tires MUST be of the original size for that model of car, and must be HR or lower in speed rating. Absolutely NO snow tires or studded tires permitted. Wheel weights MUST be removed.

 

5.   All glass must be removed, except the windshield, which is mandatory. All trim, side mirrors, interior mirrors, headlights, marker lights, rear lights, and light lenses, etc must be removed. Grill may be removed.

 

6.   Cooling systems MUST be flushed of glycol antifreeze and refilled with water ONLY. (Water wetter compounds are allowed)

 

7.   Normal unleaded pump gasoline ONLY as fuel.

 

8.   Any holes in the floor or firewalls MUST be completely sealed before tech inspection.

 

9.   No object may be welded on car, such as trailer hitches or any reinforcing.

 

10. Carpeting and roof lining should be removed. Front seats and rear seat back must be in place.

 

11. NO loose objects may be carried in the car.

 

 

PROTECTION:

 

1.   ROLL OVER PROTECTION IS REQUIRED. Roll over protection may be accomplished by a two-post design. Bolt four 12” x 12” steel plates inside through the roof and floor behind the driver and passenger front seats. A minimum of four 5/8” bolts must secure each plate. (Heads outside and nuts inside, using 2” diameter minimum washers under the heads). Two steel tubes, 4” to 6” diameter, must be placed vertically from the floor to the roof plates and be welded to them. Plate and tube minimum thickness is 0.120”. Enduro class cages or bars are acceptable.

 

2.   All doors MUST be welded, or chained and bolted shut. Driver’s door bar is strongly recommended. One bar minimum size 4” x 3/16” channel steel, or 2” x 3” box steel 0.125” wall, should be bolted with minimum of 2 – ¾” bolts on each end. Bolts should extend through chassis metal with large washers (minimum 3”) on each side. Do not place bolts where they may contribute to injury in an incident. Bar should extend from just behind front wheel well to 6” in front of rear wheel well.

 

3.   Hood and deck lid MUST be chained, bolted or secured with hood pins.

 

4.   Functional 4-point seatbelts required at a minimum. Approved 5-point racing-type nylon seat belts and shoulder harnesses strongly recommended. Belts and harnesses recommended to have a quick release.

 

5.   Window net MANDATORY – attached to door frame, driver’s side window, detachable from the top.

 

6.   All drivers will be required to wear a full-faced helmet, Snell approved DOT. Long sleeved clothing or coveralls, and leather gloves are mandatory. Fire resistant Nomex - style coveralls are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

 

7.   All teams MUST have fire extinguishers in Pit Area ( minimum 20 BC rating).

 

8.   Two 6” to 8” holes MUST be cut in hood for fire control.
