Cutting DivX movies

For this guide you will need to use VirtualDub which can be downloaded on this site.

1.    Start VirtualDub and open the DivX movie.

2.    From the "Video" tab, select "Direct stream copy" and from the "Audio" tab select "Direct stream copy" with "AVI audio".

3.    Refer to the Diagram below for the following for the rest of this guide.

Move the slider bar to where you wan the movie to cut (cutting the movie in the middle would be a good idea if you're putting the movie on two discs).

After you find the right spot, press either one of the keyframe buttons (D).  Then press the "mark end point" button (F).  Now write down the frame number that is displayed next to the "mark end point" button.  In this case it says zero because the slider bar is at the beginning of the movie.  Now press the "jump to start button" (B) and press the "mark begin point" button (E).  You should now see a blue bar like shown in the picture which indicates the selection you made.

Now we save it, so press the "File" tab and choose "Save as AVI" and wait for your movie to save.  This saved file will be your first half of the movie.

Now you have to cut the other half of the movie.  This is where you need to know the frame number that you wrote down.  So move the slider bar close to where you cut the movie.  Then you may want to move frame by frame by using the C buttons until you get to the exact frame number you wrote down.  Then press the the "mark start point" button (E) and press the "skip to end" button (B).  Finally, press the "mark end point button" (F) and save your clip.

The file you just saved will be the second half of your movie.
