Encoding a VCD with FlaskMPEG using LSX encoder

You will need the following software for this gudie:

FlaskMPEG - Includes LSX plugin

Step 1

Rip the movie

Step 2

Setup FlaskMPEG as shown in the BBMpeg guide except you select the LSX encoder this time.  So from the from the "Options" tab in FlaskMPEG, choose "Select Output Format" and select the appropriate encoder as shown below.

Step 3

Now you need to configure the LSX encoder.   From the "Options" tab in FlaskMPEG, select "Output Format Options" and you should get a screen like similar to  one shown below.

Set everything up as shown in the picture.  If you cannot select the "Video-CD 2.0" because its greyed out, press the "Bitrate" tab and select "Constant" instead of "Variable".  Make sure the "Multiplex video/audio" box is checked so that the audio and video get multiplexed together.

Step 4

If everything is setup right in the "General" section then everything should be greyed out in the "Bitrate" section as shown in the picture below and you won't be able to change anything.

Step 5

Everything else you can ignore because we don't need to make any changes to them.  So press the "Flask it!" button and wait for the movie to finish encoding.

Then split the movie into two parts and use Nero to burn it as a VCD.

NOTE:  LSX won't let you encode a movie at 23.97 fps which actually improves the smoothness of the animations, so you'll have to encode the movie at 29.97fps.
