How to Rip a DVD
You will need the Smartripper program from the downloads section to do this
There are two ways of ripping a DVD movie. One way is to rip the entire DVD movie with all the extra stuff like deleted scenes, or music videos. If you want to encode the extra stuff, then this would be the way to do it. The other way is to rip just the main movie.
Ripping the Main Movie.
Step 1: Select Movie
Step 2: Make sure all the chapters are checked.
Step 3: Choose the location where the files will be saved.
Step 4: Press the Start button and wait for your movie to finish ripping.
Ripping the entire DVD
Step 1: Click on the Files tab.
Step 2: Select the appropriate IFO, BUP, and VOB files as shown in the example above. You can tell which one's to select by the size of the files. Most of them are about 1 GB and these are the files that belong to the main movie. If you still have no idea what files belong to the main movie, then click here.
Step 3: Choose where you want your VOB, IFO, and BUP files.
Step 4: Choose Backup as the rip method and hit the start button that should be below the 'Settings' button and press the start button to begin the ripping process.
Encoding a movie directly from a DVD - No ripping required
Warning: I will not be held responsible if this method damages your DVD drive. This method may reduce the expected lifespan of your DVD drive if you do this all the time. I would only recommend this method if you are low on hard drive space and don't have enough space to rip the movie to your hard drive. Just remember not to do this all the time as it it will eventually damage your DVD drive if you do it too often.
To do this you need the CSS MISM plugin and DVD Decrypter from the downloads page.
First start the Decrypter program.
Select the VOB file that belongs to the main movie. You can tell which file to select by the large size of the file. Refer to the picture above for an example. You would select the first file VTS_05_1.vob. Then right click and select "properties" and you should get the screen below/
Write down the key number.
Start FlaskMPEG and open the VOB file the belongs to the main part of the movie from your DVD drive (select the same vob file you selected in Decyrpter) and you will be presented with the following window:
Enter the key number you wrote down and press ok. Then convert the movie like you normally would.
