On October 5 2004, we visited the Strathcona Wilderness, located 16 kilometers east of Sherwood Park on Baseline Road (Township Road 530). We didn't see any moose, although we were warned to watch for them since they are currently in rut, and therefore even less mellow than usual. The trails were being mowed to widen them for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing this winter.

After our ramble, we met for lunch at the Strathcona Tea House, located near the intersection of Highway 630 and Range Road 221. This building was built in Vegreville in 1906, and originally housed the Imperial Bank of Commerce in Vegreville. It was moved to the present location in 1991. After lunch, we visited The Treasure House (at the same location), which contains an impressive collection of knickknacks and curios. As Abraham Lincoln said "For those who like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing that they will like."
