This is the circuit I use for operating the electric flaps. The operation is as follows:

  • Press the switch down, flaps extend. Release switch, flaps stop.
  • Jog the switch up when flaps are extended, flaps retract automatically to fully retracted position. If, during the retract cycle, the switch is jogged down, the flaps will stop.
  • During flap extension or retraction, the relays 3 & 4 operate the electric trim in a direction which tends to correct the change in trim due to flap operation.

This is what the assembly looks like. The two large relays on top are for the flap motor,The two for the trim are located at the end of the terminal strip and are covered in silicone seal. The leads and wires are somewhat fragile so encasing them in silicone protects them.

This is a similiar circuit to the one i used in my second RV. It flew 100 hrs with no problems before I sold it.
