My Favorite Aircraft

I have built an Avid Flyer, two and a half RV-6A's, and an RV-10. These pages describe these aircraft and show some drawings and wiring, there are also some links to related websites.

A bit about myself

My first aircraft:

C-FCWO

Avid Flyer

This aircraft was bought from Avid Aircraft in Caldwell ID in 1988. Construction took one year plus a few days. First flight was in Jan 1989. I flew it that summer, and during the winter I put the Full Lotus floats on it. Never did get the rigging just right and the aircraft wanted to porpoise during landings. VERY interesting sometimes. However, this aircraft was a low and slow type of airplane and I wanted something a little faster. Soooo....

My second aircraft:

C-FXCS

RV-6A

This aircraft was bought as a kit from Van's Aircraft in North Plains OR. It took 5 years of evenings and weekends to build. Engine is a 0-360-A4M which I bought from Eustace Bowhay in Blind Bay BC The aircraft is fitted for night flying, although it needs gyros for night cross country. The plane cruises at 170 mph and burns 8 gph. Top speed is about 200 mph straight and level. I flew it to Oshkosh in the summer of 1997, and then on to Toronto. I sold this aircraft to a gentleman at Microsoft in May of 1998.

My third aircraft:

C-FXCS

Also registered as C-FXCS

I built a second RV-6A which I started in Sept of 1997 and flew Sept 1999. This aircraft has the same registration as the one above. This aircraft was delivered to a buyer in Seattle on Aug 6, 2000.

It includes the following features:

My fourth aircraft:

I sold this kit to a friend of mine and we built it in my garage together.

My fifth aircraft:

A Van's RV-10, a four place 200 mph aircraft.

Why we fly ! This picture was taken north of Williston Lake in the "trench" heading towards Watson Lake. Watson Lake to Prince George direct was 3 hours.
