Cowling fitting done !

Finally finished fitting the cowl. Turned out OK and the best part is that all the attach pins go in and out very easy.

I modified the way the long attach pins are installed. The plans call for the pins to be inserted from the front and held in place with a screw on a piece of hinge matieral. I drilled a hole through the firewall and inserted a piece of 1/4 in tubing. The pin is inserted from inside the aircraft. This makes for a cleaner install, prevents anyone from removing the cowl if they don't have access to the inside of the aircraft, and insures that the pin is not going to come loose and go into the back of the prop. This has happened on more than one RV, including a friends RV-6 with a constant speed Hartzell. It cost a lot to repair, but fortunately he found the damage on a walk around.
