We ran the engine yesterday! It ran very well and I am very impressed how smooth it runs with the 3 blade MT prop. Only problem was the lack of a tach indication. Called Grand Rapids Technologies and they told me there is an issue with the Lasar ignition and the EIS. The tach signal is too low for the EIS and I needed to remove a resistor and a capacitor from the board. Picture shows the board with the resistor already removed and the arrow points to the capacitor that still needs to come out. See the instructions they sent me. Of course, after I fixed that, the darn thing still didn't work. Did some checking and found that I had forgotted to connect the mags to the Lasar electronics. Made a big difference when I did. The warning light for the Lasar went out too. Now all I need to do is get the tach reading correctly. I'm pretty sure that it is reading double what it should. Called GRT again and they said set the configuration setting for the tach to 2. It was 0. 2 is for a Rotax 2 stroke according to the manual. However, I am borroweing a portable tach to check it with tomorrow. NOTE: Correct setting for EIS is 3. The Lasar puts out 3 pulses per revolution.
