Seats and Panel in position

Panel is mostly populated. Still need some fuse out indicator LED's and a aileron trim indicator. And some misc stuff. Note the front seats....
Both front and rear seats were finished and delivered today. The fellow (Mike from Mike's Upholestery in Kelowna) installed the headliner. The plane is starting to look good.

Panel is cut out

Got the panel back from the water cutting outfit today. Technology is amazing these days. I gave them a cad file and a blank panel, and I got back the panel completely cut out, and the accuracy is very good.
On another note, I had my medical done Wedensday and as a result I no longer have a medical. I have a hernia...! Saw my doctor today, he called a surgeon and the soonest I can see the surgeon is in October. Then I get to wait at least three months before surgery.

Rigging the elevators

Spent the last day rigging the elevators. I could not get the up and down travel that Van's wants (30 deg down & 25 deg up) . Finally found that the rod end was binding on the control arm under the front seats. That meant that the whole assembly had to be dissassembled and removed just so I could get at the control arm to file it out a bit (see photo). When I started, the plane was clean and all the covers were in place. The photo below shows what it looked like after I finally got it all back together.
Started fitting the empennage fairing. Much to my surprise, it fit like a glove right at the start and only needs the edges trimmed. Pictures after it's fitted...

Wings complete, Rudder mod

Wings are complete and awaiting the rest of the aircraft.
Added a doubler to the top rudder hinge in the vertical stab. This is what it looks like after completion. The doubler is inside the vertical stab. Other picture is the directions sent out by Vans to do the mod.

Bottom wing skins

In the middle of attaching the bottom skins on the wings. Had to leave it this long cause the inspection had not been done. These are BIG wings with many rivits, and they need to be done in the right sequence or one suddenly enters a world of hurt.....

Top Skin in place

Rivited the top skin into position today. This is a bit of a milestone because it marks the "completion" of the fuselage construction. Is anything ever completed ?
