SILVERWINGS
You're probably wondering who or what the Silverwings are. Well, first of all, I play soccer for a Golden Ears U-14 Silver A girl's team, and the Silverwings is our team name. The year we were choosing our team name there were a lot of strange, goofy and really weird names going around. But we finally came across the perfect name.... the Silverwings and we've stuck with it.
I have been playing soccer for 6 years now, and I enjoy every bit of it, well... actually not every bit of it. I mean, playing in the rain, which totally messes your hair up, after you've spend at least half an hour making sure it looks good, and then its ruined by thousands of tiny water drops! Like, hellooo, not fair! And then there's the rain dripping down your face, and your cleats getting completly filled with muddy water, which feels like your walking on two wet sponges, and having to get up at 6:00 o'clock in the morning to make a 8:00 game! That's definately not my kind of fun! Anyway, this year, let's just hope it doesn't rain as much!
There are sixteen awesome players on the Silverwings, and we have a goalie!! The reason I am sooo excited about having a goalie, is cuz there were years where we've had to sit around at half time and try to convince someone to go in goal - not a good thing. This year is going to be great! I'll post the game scores of all the Silverwings games here each week, so you can keep checking back if you're interested in seeing how we're doing!!!......
UPDATE: As of the 2003/2004 Season the Silverwings have 'retired'. The original Silverwings girls were split up in try-outs and two new teams were formed. As of September 2003, my new team is the U15 Girls Xtreme - we are a Gold team and doing really well so far. We are currently in 4th place....and moving up..... (in a division of 16 teams) - Will keep you posted and maybe if I can find the time, I'll begin a new Xtreme page....... As for the 'Silverwings' - we had some great times!!!! *~*Brittany*~*
Update: I enrolled in the Referee's Clinic held on 8th September 2001. I plan to continue ref'ing again this year.
REMEMBER - be kind and don't argue with your referee!!!!!!!!!

League Final standings - SECOND PLACE - 13 wins - 0 ties - 1 loss ...... 51 goals for ....... 9 goals against ..... 14 games played - 2 games un-played due to weather conditions ...... WELL DONE 'WINGS!!

The SILVERWINGS SOARED TO VICTORY!!!! against the POCO Fury. Even when we were down a defender we managed a 3 to 0 win. This one's for you BRAD and we can't wait to see Kevin's new do! The 1st place medals look great on the 'Wings.
"WE ARE THE NORTH DISTRICT CHAMPIONS"!!!!
Game played today against the POCO Fury - final score 3 to 0 for the Silverwings! Both teams received medals in a ceremony presented by the Mayor of New Westminster!! We are now off to the next round of Provincial Cup Play.
