BIOGRAPHY

Frida Betrani was raised in Montréal, Québec, Canada.  At the age of 12, Frida and her family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.

Frida's passion for acting started at a young age, when she appeared in a play in the 1st grade. She went on to study acting all through her high school years, doing several theater projects along the way including musical theatre. She later moved to New York City to pursue her studies and graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Returning to Vancouver, Frida landed her first job as the West coast hostess on YTV "Streetnoise". Soon after she beat out many hopefuls across Canada for the juicy role of 'Cindy' in CBC "Northwood". She has gone on to work on several Canadian television productions as well as independent full and short length films. She played a supporting role in the critically acclaimed CBS mini series "Aftershock, earthquake in New York City". More TV appearances most notably "Dead Man's Gun", "Da Vinci's Inquest" and the recurring 'Lya' on "Stargate SG-1".

Frida's recent project includes the Opening Selection 2001 at The Toronto International Film Festival "Last Wedding" in which she plays the role of the bride 'Zipporah'. For her work in "Last Wedding" Frida received the Artistic Merit Award from Woman in Film at the Vancouver Film Festival 2001. She received the "Best Canadian Actress" 2001 from the Vancouver Critics Circle Film-Canada.As well as in 2002 Canadian Comedy Award Nomination for "Pretty Funny Female Performance" and 2002 Leo Award Nomination "Best Female Lead". Last Wedding received Toronto Film Critics Association "Best Canadian Film" 2001. It is currently being seen around the world a local film festivals.

Frida lives happily in her Vancouver home with a frog named Kimi and a fish named Cello.
